Amity Military Training Camp

Very long. I know. The last time I wrote something in this blog was way back in October. Several months have passed and not a single word came out. The most annoying part is I checked this blog every week. Every time, I opened the dashboard, look at the latest post and close again.

All right. Enough. No more ranting.

February was quick. F#@king quick. Lot's happened inside the college. College fest, lesser studies, shorter days and of Course our Military Training Camp.

After lot's of request and running here and there I finally joined the camp with my classmates. Going without them was not an option for me.

I woke up early that morning, did not bath, met friends at D block for breakfast. It was good to see everyone excited for the training camp.

Some of my classmates were even surprised to see me with my bag packed. Duh...As if!

We reached Amity, Manesar (where MTC takes place) in the afternoon. Soon, after checking for non-permitted items, we were led to our tents. My tent mates consisted of Puneet, Arpit, Ashu and Jayant. Our's was the only tent in which 5 members were there. Rest had 8 students per tent.

Tents where we stayed.

In the evening, we were shown live performances of dogs performing various stunts. Before that we were also taught about herbs and some uses of plants and how they can benefit us in our daily life. The last I remember was about a herb which was supposed to increase our memory!

The next day was hard. We woke up early and had to run many rounds as part of our physical morning training. As usual, I started coughing after some rounds and took the measures of not running. After breakfast, we started to practice parade which was going to be competed in the last day of our camp.

Our platoon was instructed by Subedar B.K Singh. All the platoons were lead by my friend, Parthiban. After all the parades and work outs, we ended the day by going for a trekking.

After tiring two days, many of us felt not to go for morning exercise. Some went, some did not. Then after breakfast, we had our shooting activities with Air-guns (duh!) . I tried my best to replicate the best of snipers but after all the practices and aims I could only hit once with the best score of 2.

Vaibhav, Aditya and Jayant trying to beat my score of 2. They got 0 :D

Soon after the shooting activities we went for completing the obstacle bars and nets that were fixed there in the ground. There were nothing special in the obstacle nets. Running 200 meters was more difficult than clearing those.

In between our activities, we were also led to an auditorium to hear some ex-serviceman speak about some random topics, which I hardly recollect. Probably, the auditorium activity was the most uninteresting thing we did in the whole 5 days camp.

Duh!

The next two days were pretty good as we had lot's of activities. We had our rock climbing, rappelling and Land - Para sailing activities. Honestly, flying in the air is way better than walking or running. No wonder, the birds always looks happy.

Took a selfie while climbing. It was scary!

That's how you do rappelling.
Weeeeeeeeeeeee!

We had our Parade competition on the last day. We did perform exceptional well and were deserving winners but the girls from Platoon 1 took away the award. I even expected our tent to get the cleanest tent prize also but it didn't happened.

Cleanest tent? Yes!

We did have some dancing session on the last night. The less I write about it, the better.

Photo bombing Vaibhav and his besties :D
Overall, it was an experience I wouldn't forget it for a long time. I joined the camp after a lots of request and it was well worth it. This is probably one of the "must-thing" an Amitian should do during their stay in Amity.
