When they die or you die?

The wise man replied: "When they die or you die" .

Growth Mindset

After a gap of some months, I have slowly started to have growth mindset again.

Since I was living a crazy life after I left Hafele, I couldn't manage to learn new things like I used to before. Ever since I read Angela Duckworth's book - Grit, I am fired up once again.

One of the main reason I couldn't learn properly was due to non-availability of a laptop. Now that everything is falling into pieces, I am moving forward again. Inch by inch.

Things I have set out to do this month are as follows:

1. Complete French (Duolingo) .
2. Read one more book - Why nations fail
3. Learn to make a new product (can be origami also).
4. Keep building new muscles.

Felt very happy after reading Grit. Probably one of the main intra-personal skills that's been missing in my life. Must read for everyone. Cheers!

To You

As often as night comes,
so does my sadness.
As constant as day arrives,
so is my love for you.
I wish for you and wish the best for you,
and I understand the dilemma.
My life is here where you touched me,
Ever you should call,
I will be there to be felt again.

The Shampoo Principle

Shampoo, it's funny how we use it, right?

When you get a new bottle, the next shower's like having a shampoo party. You use lots of shampoo and build up a nice thick lather of bubbles. The only problem is that one week later, you have a bottle with about that much left in it. But somehow you're able to make that little bit of shampoo last for months, if you need to. This is called The Shampoo Principle.

The more you have the more you use.

Where else do we see this?

Well, almost everywhere. At home, we already discussed shampoo, but don't we use toothpaste sort of the same way? How about at the office? When there are a ton of office supplies, lots of paper, lots of pens. Employees go through them so fast. There's probably a lot of wasteful decisions. We can even extend The Shampoo Principle to sports. In a close game, teams are careful and focused on every possession. When a team has a big lead, they're more likely to be careless and make mistakes.

Let's all remember to utilised our resources carefully

Year 2017 - Mid Year Review

Life is not as easy as it seems. The year 2017 had started in a wrong direction in my professional life. It's been May and the blueprint which I expected has not been met, at least till now. One thing is for sure. I am not going to regret anything which I have done in this year.

Some good things happened, some things went wrong. They are as follows:

1. Quitting Hafele India
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be quitting Hafele before 3 years. Being a Management Trainee, I always imagined myself to take care of Hafele 10, 15 years down the line. I did felt bad when they couldn't transfer me to the location which I wanted. Whatever happens, if I ever build a modular kitchen for  my home, all the hardware is going to be from Hafele and Blum.

2. Buying TV for home
One of my short term goal after getting a job was buying a good TV for home. Finally, we bought a Panasonic 40' inch TV. Everyone's happy. The best part of buying that TV was that I got it from the distributor and not from any retailer (Thanks Hafele for teaching that).

3. BJP winning in Manipur
I voted for the first time in my life and it was a huge success. Even though our BJP candidate lost by a margin of 19 votes, BJP as a party formed the govt in Manipur for the first time. It would have been really bad if Congress would have come to power and not ride on the Modi wave which is happening in the entire country. Proud.

4. Got a chance to teach my younger sister
It's been long since I am staying outside from home. It's good that I
took a good amount of rest and in between help prepare my younger sister for her final exams. She did well and hope she continues to work hard.

5. Da Rishikesh wedding
We were kids back then and he use to lead us to play cricket matches. Time flies by so quickly and now I was attending his wedding. Hope they have a very happy married life.

6. Summer in Delhi
Stayed in Pushika's place for some days and later shifted to Sunil's place. One of the best summer I have ever had. Thank you :)

That's it for now. As they say "This too shall pass", I am experiencing it, understanding life and enjoying the present moment minutes by minutes.
