Laziness: Given a
choice between an easier way and a harder way, we will always choose
the easier option because the sooner we get the job done the sooner we
can enjoy.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">2. Greedy: Given a
choice between more or less, we strive to maximize what we get.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">3. Ambition: All
human actions are motivated by a
desire for improvement in our
condition. Even a person who
jumps off a building to commit suicide believes that he would be better
off by putting an end to his life than by being alive</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">4. Self-Interest: Each person thinks, feels, acts and
experiences happiness or sorrow, by and for himself/herself. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">5. Ignorance: We all are ignorant. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">6. Vanity: Human beings have ego. We think highly of ourselves. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">What People wants? </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">1. Security: Security of life and
health. Physical security, economic security, emotional security etc. Lack of security makes us angry,
fearful and defensive.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">2. Comfort: After security, human wants comfort. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">3. Leisure: We want to relax and take
time off work. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">4. Love: Each of us needs to be loved to feel fully human, and we strive for
love all our lives.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">5. Respect: We need to be recognized and
respected by others outside our family group. Because we are basically
vain, we seek the praise and appreciation of other people</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">6. Fulfillment: People wants to know the meaning and purpose of their life. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">The human race is made up of people—you and I— who are basically
lazy, greedy, ambitious, selfish, ignorant and vain. All of them are striving
for the same things: security, comfort, leisure, love, respect and
fulfillment. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Some people get it. Some don't. Why? </span></p>Mansingh Nepramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12530643400736274364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206257971866623966.post-83159070697358042742021-06-26T22:34:00.000+05:302021-06-26T22:34:07.951+05:30Fixing Windows<span style="font-size: large;">Everybody wants to win. </span><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">Sometimes, small wins are wins. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">It's been some years that I have not been activating my Windows and MS Office. It works fine and does not hinder my day to day work. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">A week ago, my brother said he wants to buy a new laptop since all our laptops where very slow by his standards. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">In order to not waste money, I ask him not to buy, instead use the ones we have after upgrading or fixing some softwares. That day started my research on how to make our laptops faster. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">The easier way for me would have been to visit a torrent site and use cracks but I wanted a better method. <br /><br />After a day or two, I came to know there exist a method called MAS activation and it gave me hope. Did more researched by reading blog posts and forum chats to re-confirm the method. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">Finally, downloaded the activator and activated my Windows permanently. In order to improve the Windows OS I had to manually update to the latest 21H1 May version also. It feels good now. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">It's been 2 months since the govt has put up a lockdown in my state due to second wave of Covid 19. </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;">The fixing of Windows feels like the best thing I have done during this two unproductive months. <br /> </span></div><div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><br /></div>Mansingh Nepramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12530643400736274364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3206257971866623966.post-1664246583895529232021-06-05T19:17:00.000+05:302021-06-05T19:17:37.133+05:30Annual Community festivals of Manipur<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><b><u>Gaan-Ngai</u></b></span></p>

the granaries are full, the landscape is dry and the whole village is free from
all agricultural activities. It’s a time for celebration, festivity, and
worship of the God and honouring of the dead. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

rituals. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

collect money and spend it on celebrations. This is a part of the tradition
during this joyous festival. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

and other uncooked food items to the Meitei deity Lainingthou Sanamahi. After
receiving blessings an even number of dishes are prepared using the offerings.
After the dishes for the feast are made, they are offered at two different
traditional locations around the hosue: one at the front and the other at the
rear of the house. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<span style="font-size: large;">I am not a fan of travelling and exploring places but it is sometimes better to know your land and know how people live. </span><div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Our family had a small get together at Peggy and Matthew's first anniversary at Moirang. After the gathering, came back and did some research on Manipur and her districts. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">After a good amount of searching I can visualized all the districts and how to reach there. Hope I get to travel in every district and know my place. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">If you are also one of those who does not know your own land, do explore on Google map or Youtube. </span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">This is my first blog on fitness.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">After I came back home, I had put up about 4 kgs in 3 months time. Eating felt good.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Rice, Haldiram Bujiya, Eggs, Maggi, Bread... you name it... I had it.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">It was this time I decided to get fitter and try gym for the final time. Probably for the last time because I have been going to the gym(irregularly) since ages and there was no improvement in my body.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">While studying and working I always had excuses such as</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. I don't have time.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. Don't have money to buy for proper diet.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. Didn't know how to workout properly.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">4. The gym was not good etc.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">This time, it was different.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. I had lots of time.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">2. I had saved quite a few money.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">3. I found a good gym and took part in a transformation challenge. The gym fees included a trainer also.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">What I didn't realise was that the trainers were not an expert at the nutrients and diet part. They somehow had been working out for many years and developed basic muslces from which they took up jobs at gyms.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Since I paid for the transformation challenge, I took it up myself and followed many tutorials on Youtube on how to lose fat and improve muscle mass.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">That's when I came to know that I didn't know anything about exercise and diet. 27 years of life and I had zero knowledge of macros, micros and how the body function.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Fast forward to 2 months, I have lost nearly 6 kgs with the help of resistance training, quantified diet and proper recovery(sleep) habits .</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">I have learned a lot in these past two months and is on the way to have the body which I always wanted since I was young.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-size: large;">After a gap of some months, I have slowly started to have growth mindset again. </span><div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Since I was living a crazy life after I left Hafele, I couldn't manage to learn new things like I used to before. Ever since I read Angela Duckworth's book - Grit, I am fired up once again. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">One of the main reason I couldn't learn properly was due to non-availability of a laptop. Now that everything is falling into pieces, I am moving forward again. Inch by inch. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Things I have set out to do this month are as follows:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. Complete French (Duolingo) . </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2. Read one more book - Why nations fail </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3. Learn to make a new product (can be origami also). </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">4. Keep building new muscles. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Felt very happy after reading Grit. Probably one of the main intra-personal skills that's been missing in my life. Must read for everyone. Cheers!</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: large;">Shampoo, it's funny how we use it, right? </span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">When you get a new bottle, the next shower's like having a shampoo party. You use lots of shampoo and build up a nice thick lather of bubbles. The only problem is that one week later, you have a bottle with about that much left in it. But somehow you're able to make that little bit of shampoo last for months, if you need to. This is called The Shampoo Principle.</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">The more you have the more you use. </span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Where else do we see this? </span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Well, almost everywhere. At home, we already discussed shampoo, but don't we use toothpaste sort of the same way? How about at the office? When there are a ton of office supplies, lots of paper, lots of pens. Employees go through them so fast. There's probably a lot of wasteful decisions. We can even extend The Shampoo Principle to sports. In a close game, teams are careful and focused on every possession. When a team has a big lead, they're more likely to be careless and make mistakes.</span></span></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "source serif pro" , serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "source" serif "pro" , serif;">Let's all remember to utilised our resources carefully</span><span style="font-family: "source" serif "pro" , serif;">. </span></span></span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Life is not as easy as it seems. The year 2017 had started in a wrong direction in my professional life. It's been May and the blueprint which I expected has not been met, at least till now. One thing is for sure. I am not going to regret anything which I have done in this year. </span><br />
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Some good things happened, some things went wrong. They are as follows:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">1. <u>Quitting Hafele India</u>: </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be quitting Hafele before 3 years. Being a Management Trainee, I always imagined myself to take care of Hafele 10, 15 years down the line. I did felt bad when they couldn't transfer me to the location which I wanted. Whatever happens, if I ever build a modular kitchen for my home, all the hardware is going to be from Hafele and Blum. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">2. <u>Buying TV for home</u>. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">One of my short term goal after getting a job was buying a good TV for home. Finally, we bought a Panasonic 40' inch TV. Everyone's happy. The best part of buying that TV was that I got it from the distributor and not from any retailer (Thanks Hafele for teaching that). </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">3. <u>BJP winning in Manipur</u></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I voted for the first time in my life and it was a huge success. Even though our BJP candidate lost by a margin of 19 votes, BJP as a party formed the govt in Manipur for the first time. It would have been really bad if Congress would have come to power and not ride on the Modi wave which is happening in the entire country. Proud. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">4. <u>Got a chance to teach my younger sister</u>. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">It's been long since I am staying outside from home. It's good that I </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">took a good amount of rest and in between help prepare my younger sister for her final exams. She did well and hope she continues to work hard. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">5. <u>Da Rishikesh wedding</u>. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">We were kids back then and he use to lead us to play cricket matches. Time flies by so quickly and now I was attending his wedding. Hope they have a very happy married life. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">6. <u>Summer in Delhi</u> </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Stayed in Pushika's place for some days and later shifted to Sunil's place. One of the best summer I have ever had. Thank you :) </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;">That's it for now. As they say "<span style="color: blue;"><a href="http://nepram.blogspot.in/2014/10/a-thought-provoking-story.html" target="_blank">This too shall pass</a></span>", I am experiencing it, understanding life and enjoying the present moment minutes by minutes. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

My village is famous for its watermelons. When I was a child, the farmers would organise a watermelon-eating contest at the end of the harvest season in May. All the kids would be invited to eat as many watermelons as they wanted. Years later, I went to IIT Mumbai to study engineering. I went back to my village after 6.5 years. I went to the market looking for <span class="text_exposed_show" style="box-sizing: border-box;">watermelons. They were all gone. </span></span></span><span style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; line-height: 27px;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">The ones that were there were so small.</span></span></span></span></h3>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; line-height: 27px; margin-bottom: 26px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">I went to see the farmer who hosted the watermelon-eating contest. His son had taken over. He would host the contest but there was a difference. When the older farmer gave us watermelons to eat he would ask us to spit out the seeds into a bowl. We were told not to bite into the seeds. He was collecting the seeds for his next crop. We were unpaid child laborers, actually. He kept his best watermelons for the contest and he got the best seeds which would yield even bigger watermelons the next year. </span></span><span style="box-sizing: border-box;"><span style="box-sizing: border-box;">His son, when he took over, realized that the larger watermelons would fetch more money in the market so he sold the larger ones and kept the smaller ones for the contest. The next year, the watermelons were smaller, the year later even small. In watermelons the generation is one year.</span></span></span></div>
<center style="box-sizing: border-box; text-align: justify;">
<span style="line-height: 30px; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">In seven years, Parra’s best watermelons were finished. In humans, generations change after 25 years. It will take us 200 years to figure what we were doing wrong while educating our children.”</span></span></center>

<span style="font-size: large;">It's been quite a long time I haven't visited any heritage site in India. Had a chance to visit Agra (Taj Mahal) during the 4th semester with my room partners but couldn't go due to some reasons.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Now that I am in Mumbai for some days, I found out that there are few places I can visit which will help me know a different side of Mumbai. Elephanta Island was one of them. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">One of the interesting part about visiting Elephanta Island was the ride of ferry from Gateway of India to the Island. This was the first time I was on a ferry ride and the experience was a refreshing one. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Overall the sighting was enjoyable. Someone should have told us before that we have to climb a huge numbers of stairs before reaching the caves. By the time we reached the caves, we were very tired. One mistake we committed was that we had lunch before climbing the stairs. That made the climbing more difficult. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Anyways, it's a good place to visit. If people wants to escape from the buildings and traffic of Mumbai, this is one place I would recommend :) </span>
