A Thought Provoking Story

This Too Shall Pass – Understand This Deeply

Once a king called upon all of his wise men and asked them, ” Is there a mantra or suggestion which works in every situation, in every circumstances, in every place and in every time. In every joy, every sorrow, every defeat and every victory? One answer for all questions? Something which can help me when none of you is available to advise me? Tell me is there any mantra?”

All the wise men were puzzled by the King’s question. They thought and thought. After a lengthy discussion, an old man suggested something which appealed to all of them. They went to the king and gave him something written on paper, with a condition that the king was not to see it out of curiosity.

Only in extreme danger, when the King finds himself alone and there seems to be no way, only then he can see it. The King put the papers under his Diamond ring.

Some time later, the neighbors attacked the Kingdom. King and his army fought bravely but lost the battle. The King had to flee on his horse. The enemies were following him. getting closer and closer. Suddenly the King found himself standing at the end of the road - that road was not going anywhere. Underneath there was a rocky valley thousand feet deep. If he jumped into it, he would be finished…and he could not return because it was a small road…the sound of enemy’s horses was approaching fast. The King became restless. There seemed to be no way.

Then suddenly he saw the Diamond in his ring shining in the sun, and he remembered the message hidden in the ring. He opened the diamond and read the message. The message was – “ THIS TOO SHALL PASS ”

The King read it . Again read it. Suddenly something struck him- Yes ! This too will pass. Only a few days ago, I was enjoying my kingdom. I was the mightiest of all the Kings. Yet today, the Kingdom and all my pleasures have gone. I am here trying to escape from enemies. Like those days of luxuries have gone, this day of danger too will pass. A calm came on his face. He kept standing there. The place where he was standing was full of natural beauty. He had never known that such a beautiful place was also a part of his Kingdom.

The revelation of the message had a great effect on him. He relaxed and forgot about those following him. After a few minutes he realized that the noise of the horses and the enemy coming was receding. They moved into some other part of the mountains and were nowhere near him.

The King was very brave. He reorganized his army and fought again. He defeated the enemy and regained his empire. When he returned to his empire after victory, he was received with much fanfare. The whole capital was rejoicing in the victory.

Everyone was in a festive mood. Flowers were being showered on King from every house, from every corner. People were dancing and singing. For a moment King said to himself, “ I am one of the bravest and greatest King. It is not easy to defeat me. With all the reception and celebration he saw an ego emerging in him. ”

Suddenly the Diamond of his ring flashed in the sunlight and reminded him of the message. He open it and read it again: “ THIS TOO SHALL PASS ”.

He became silent. His face went through a total change - from the egoist he moved to a state of utter humbleness. If this too is going to pass, it is not yours. The defeat was not yours, the victory is not yours. You are just a watcher. Everything passes by. We are witnesses of all this. We are the perceivers. Life comes and goes. Happiness comes and goes. Sorrow comes and goes.

Now as you have read this story, just sit silently and evaluate your own life. This too will pass. Think of the moments of joy and victory in your life. Think of the moment of Sorrow and defeat. Are they permanent ? They all come and pass away.

Life just passes away. There is nothing permanent in this world. Every thing changes except the law of change. Think over it from your own perspective. You have seen all the changes. You have survived all setbacks, all defeats and all sorrows. All have passed away. The problems in the present, they too will pass away. Because nothing remains forever. Joy and sorrow are the two faces of the same coin. They both will pass away.

You are just a witness of change. Experience it, understand it, and enjoy the present moment - this too shall pass

Men's fashion blog to follow.

Since the dawn of time, men have had the trouble figuring out what to wear. It began, well, it began in the very beginning.

Setting: Garden of Eden

We hear Eve shouting from stage left.

"Adam, you're wearing that fig leaf....again? Are you kidding me? That is soooo tired!"

And so fashion was born.

And here we are, all these years later, and men still have no idea what to wear.

Fashion is important for men. Not for the others, not for the world but for being themselves.

Just like in every case, for any person to learn a new skill, he/she has to read, watch or attend classes. Fashion is no different.

These are some of the blogs where you can learn the art of men's fashion and get the idea of what to wear.

1. Real Men Real Style : Founded by Antonio Centono, the blog is to provide men the tools to educate themselves and build the wardrobe that best complements their individual style.

2. Style Girlfriend: Founded by Megan Collins, Style Girlfriend is for real guys seeking real advice from a friendly, female perspective. The style principles found on SG apply equally to guys living in big cities, small towns, and everywhere in between.

3. Esquire Blog: Official blog of Esquire magazine.

4. GQ Magazine Blog: Official blog of GQ Magazine.

5.  I am Alpha m. : It is the brain child of male image consultant and men's style expert, Aaron Marino. Aaron Marino started a men’s image consulting firm, alpha m. Image Consulting, to help average men with simple common sense advice; aimed to enhance their image, style, grooming, fashion and most importantly their confidence.

That's all for beginners. Hope you all will figure out what to wear from now onwards.

Life @ Room No F3 - 201

Q.What's it's like to be a student of MBA Marketing & Sales @ Amity Business School?

Ans: Boring and absolutely tiring.

Q. What's my morning routine now a days?

Ans: Yes, I get up quite early. 6:30 am to be exact. What comes next is the shitty part. There used to be a time when I used to get up, feel the greenery outside my window, read a good line or two and look forward to having the best day of my life.

Now it's heavenly crazy. Every morning my mind zooms to which subject's ppt I have to complete, which Google doc I have to submit and yes how many students from my class have to complete their bio-data form. Every single weekday.

Q. What goes on in your class?

Ans: Same boring lectures which used to happen in our school days (Ok ok..the contents are different!) . They come, usually asks me to start the projector, open their slides and start teaching what they are supposed to teach.

Classmates waiting for lecture @ F3 block

Q. Any application/practical based learning?

Ans: Sadly no. Not yet.

Q. What else happens in the class?

Ans: Students sleep and sleep.

Dhruv Bainsla taking a quick nap.

Conserving energy!

Pretty much sums up everyday that happens inside room no F3-201.

Amity Business School

It's been quite long since I wrote my last blog. Every time I think of writing something I delayed it more and more(as usual). What have I been doing over the last month? Studying.

I got admitted to Amity Business School, Noida this month. Was having mixed feelings after getting the admission. Feeling a bit bad as I could have to a better business school and was feeling happy that I got into a decent system.

After a 4 years gap, I have come back to hostel life once again. It's pretty good considering they give unlimited fast internet as well as laundry. My room partner as usual is another Maharashtrian ( What's with me and Maharashtra?). I am pretty sure by now I wouldn't be surprise if I even get married to a girl from Maharashtra in the future.

How is Amity?
It has a big campus. Have almost all the facilities a university can provide. The library is the most exciting thing here. With escalators and lifts, it is more of a lounge than a library.

That's it for now folks. I have lots to write about my life in Amity. Hope to share many things in the future. Time to study now.

Short Trip to Ajmer

Woo Hoo! I went for my first solo vacation to Ajmer. It was everything I wanted to do during this summer.

Bored with buildings, malls and metros I wanted to explore some part of the world I have never experienced before. After my 3-day journey to Bangalore last month, I wanted to learn more about Indian trains, its routes and the story behind every journey.

Staying at Abhishek's place reminded me of my hostel years during Engineering. The TV was an extra bonus.

The best part of the trip was the camel ride @ Pushkar. Felt a bit cheated as there was no 'desert' as such, still a new experienced.

The name of the camel is Jannu. The plan was to ride with her throughout the desert. Came to know there are no deserts in Pushkar. I will have to visit Jaisalmer and get a proper ride next time.

Yeah! Looks like the real deal right? Unfortunately, that's where the sand starts and end. All inside one photo.

Felt at home in Ajmer. Flat roads surrounded by small hills. The above picture is one of the best shot we took. The Anna Sagar looks fantastic. The good thing about Ajmer was there were no tall buildings and they have very open surroundings.

Overall, it was a short and comfortable trip, one which I thoroughly enjoyed.

We

You came by and touch me
Naive and selfish was I
Played along to have some fun
Played well to feel the joy.
I was brave
You were bored
Teens,
We were never sure.
Delightful it was,
Your every message
Lighting up the lips
Your every word
Was is hard?
It was for me
Will it be hard?
The world will soon know
Have asked
“Who are you?”
With every passing time
You remained you.
Played well, yes.
Players, we both are.
This was a game
I didn’t want to play.
Birthday’s remembered,
farewell’s forgotton.
Poor it was,
Rich it will be.
I will be there,
So will you.
Keeping hope
Believing, we always do.

Bangalore Week

I was in Bangalore for a week to give GD/PI of XIME. Even though I didn't get to travel many places, I had my moments. Things I learned from that travel are as follows :

Train Journey
I traveled alone for the first time in train. It was a 2 days journey and the return was even a longer 3 days journey(day wise). By now I am confident of travelling anywhere in India, at least with AC 3 facilities.

Buses of Bangalore
It was amazing to find out the Gold Pass Ticket facility inside the Bangalore city for buses. Bought a ticket and enjoyed several bus ride.

Orien Mall
By far one the best shopping mall in India in terms of infrastructure. The water fountain was breathtaking and the view of World Trade Center Office was one I will not forget in a long time.

Bangalore Metro
Yes, Bangalore city has got metro trains facilities and it's different from the ones in Delhi in some technical aspect. I asked why there were many security guards in the platform and the reasons given was really good. In Delhi, you could jumped down the metro tracks and the worst thing that can happen to you is that you might go to jail. In Bangalore, you will simply die because of high voltage that runs through the tracks.

Bangalore Metro

Family Bonding
It's been long since I had proper family dinner. Felt really great after sleeping, eating, playing and staying with my friend Rokesh and his family for about a week. Staying in hostels, single rooms has made me quite an alien to the world of togetherness.

That's it folks. It's was a time well spent. Hope to visit Bangalore again.

Update: The result is out. I did not get selected for XIME. Thanks to them for giving me a chance to visit Bangalore.

Wrap Up - March

March is suppose to be the best month for me.  End of cold and start of summer times. And yes, it's my birth month after all.

Was expecting some good things to happen during this month and it surely didn't disappoint. Will write some of the events that happened during March.

  1. Contribution to Rangde :Did my regular contribution to Rang de. Hope someone will benefit from my small investment and help getting our country get better.

  2. Results of MICAT, CMAT & KJ SomaiyaNo, I did not qualify for any of the given exams/institute.  The worst part is I don't regret any of my performances and I have forgotten how to feel fear about not getting good colleges for my PGDM/MBA.

  3.  Birthday Celebration17th March was a good day. Holi was celebrated all over India and I has the good fortune of celebrating my new year. Celebrated with friends from my engineering days.

  4. Helped Aam Aadmi Party.
Did my bits for the new party by collecting tickets for Inner/Outer Manipur from their main office (CP HQ) and sending it safely to Manipur. Wasted quite a lot of energy and time but I do sincerely hope they gain some popularity and help our country.

  5. Visit BangaloreWill visit Bangalore for giving GD/PI for XIME. Had the choice to visit Pune but thought Bangalore was better. Last time I visited Bangalore was way back in the year 2003. Hope to have a good time and get selected. I am almost running out of colleges :D

That's it. It's hard to maintain consistency of blogging every week. I guess I have to step it up like I did today.

Why should you avoid poor and miserable people?

A nut found itself carried by a crow to the top of a tall campanile, and by falling into a crevice succeeded in escaping its dread fate. It then besought the wall to shelter it, by appealing to it by the grace of God, and praising its height, and the beauty and noble tone of its bells.

"Alas" it went on , "as I have not been able to drop beneath the green branches of my old Father and to lie in the fallow earth covered by his fallen leaves, do you, at least, not abandon me. When I found myself in the beak of the cruel crow I made a vow, that if escaped I would end my life in a little hole."

At these words, the wall, moved with compassion, was content to shelter the nut in the spot where it had fallen. Within a short time, the nut burst open; its roots reached in between the crevices of the stones and began to push them apart; its shoots pressed up toward the sky.

They soon rose above the building, and as the twisted roots grew thicker they began to thrust the walls apart and fore the ancient stones from their old places. The the wall, too late and in vain, bewailed the cause of its destruction, and in short time it fell in ruin.

--------------------xx--------------------

There are people in our  world who have suffered by the circumstances beyond their control and deserve all the help and sympathy we can give them.

Then, there are others who are not born to misfortune, but who draw it upon themselves by their destructive actions and behaviors. It would be a great thing if we could raise them up, change their patterns, but more often than not it is their actions that end up getting inside and changing us.

The reason is simple - humans are extremely susceptible to emotions.

The risk of associating with such kind of people is that you will waste valuable time and energy trying to free yourself. The danger is that these type of people often present themselves as victims, making it difficult, at first, to see their miseries as self- inflicted.

These kind of people can be recognised by the misfortune they draw on themselves, their turbulent past, their long line of broken relationships and their character, which sweeps you up and makes you lose your reason.

Their is only one solution to this problem: AVOID THEM.

Do not take pity. Do not enmesh yourself in trying to help. Flee the infector's presence or suffer the consequence.

Why write a blog?

2nd blog post of this year and I am already tired. Nothing much to write this week.

Been learning a lot about business and how to run it. Will pour out all the information whenever I understand it very clearly.

This week I am reading Influence by Robert Cialdini.

That's it for this week. Keeping up with my 2014's commitments  is tougher than I thought. Even if it's short I have to write something.

Have a great week :)

Hello 2014!

Another day. Another month. Another year. Glad to start the new year with the family at home.

2013 was an awakening year. Full of hope and lessons. 2014 is going to be even better.

Some of the things I have planned and act to do in the year 2014 are:

Learn 1 new language.

French it will be. Will finish the course from Duolingo. Check out the site if you also want to learn a new language.

Get healthy

Will go to gym and work out hard the body for at least 10 months. Have to get 2 pack abs by the end of the year.

Read Books

I will read a minimum of 50 books. That means 1 book a week. Will update the name of the books as I read.

Write One Book

Have thought about it a lot and this year is going to the year. Even if it means bringing out a collections of GK question I will write a book.

Blog Every Week

Going to be the toughest among my plans. Have been saying this to myself since last 5,6 years. This year is different. I WILL BE BLOGGING.

That's it folks. There will be many things which you will see me learning in the year 2014 and all cannot be mentioned in the blog right now and as far as the top priorities are concerned the above listed ones takes up the spots.

Happy New Year. Have a great 2014 :)
